No two pieces of Australian hardwood look the same, and that is the point of a Provenance board. Red Gum and Jarrah both carry deep colour and strong figure, but each expresses its character differently, and every individual board varies again.
Red Gum
Our Red Gum comes from North-East Victoria and the Murray River region. It runs from deep auburn to crimson and warms with every oiling. Its grain is dense, interlocked and often figured, with fine gum veins and flecks that give each board its identity. It is one of the two timbers offered across the Riverbank Collection.
Jarrah
Jarrah comes from Western Australia. Rich burgundy to deep red-brown, with dense, lustrous grain, it is the deep burgundy note in our Signature and MeatMaster compositions.
Why a photograph cannot promise identical grain
An image shows a piece’s form, scale, finish and character. It cannot promise an identical grain, because timber never repeats. Every Provenance board is handcrafted and one of one, so yours will carry its own colour, figure and markings, recorded on its Certificate of Provenance.
Choosing by character
Choose a single-timber Red Gum board for continuity of species and flowing natural figure. Choose a mixed-grain composition when contrast, rhythm and the play between timbers is what draws you.
